Welcome to Phass Family Dentistry and our website. We are truly a family dental practice which was established in 1961 by our father, Dr. Jack C. Phass. As brother and sister, Dr. Dean Phass and Dr. Sophia Phass carry on their father's tradition of high standards, professionalism, and quality dental care. Dr. Theresa Shannon, our associate for over 8 years, shares our same high standards and values. We keep up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry through continuing education.

Dr. Dean J. Phass
A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Dean J. Phass has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years. He is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology. In 1985, he received his D.D.S. degree from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Phass is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, and a past president of the Alexandria Dental Society. Over the years, he has been active in the community. Dr. Phass served on the Board of Trustees at Browne Academy where he was active with fundraising and planning, and with new construction of a performing arts and gymnasium building for the school.
Dr. Phass has been mentioned in the the Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Consumers Checkbook Magazine, and the Northern Virginia Living Magazine, as one of the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia areas top dentists.
Dr. Sophia C. Phass
Dr. Sophia C. Phass graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Richmond. She then attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry, where she earned her D.D.S. degree in 1988.
She is a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association and the Alexandria Dental Society. She is a past president and past vice president of the Alexandria Dental Society.
Dr. Sophia Phass has been mentioned as a top dentist in the Washingtonian Magazine as well as the Washington Consumers Checkbook Magazine, Northern Virginia Living Magazine and Best Dentists in America.
Dr. Theresa L. Shannon
Dr. Theresa L. Shannon graduated from Hayfield High School and did her undergraduate work at Duke University in North Carolina. Following four years of service in the United States Air Force, she attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she earned her D.D.S. degree in 1996.
Dr. Shannon then returned home to the Washington metro area and did a general practice residency at Prince George’s Hospital in Maryland. During her residency, she gained extensive experience treating children. Dr. Shannon began working with Phass Family Dentistry in 1998 and treats many of the children in the practice.
Dr. Shannon is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She is the 2015 President of the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry and is currently serving on the board of Region 5 Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Shannon has been mentioned as a top dentist in the Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Living Magazine.
